Meeting in Barcelona: what it costs, and what the evening looks like.

What a two-day team offsite in Barcelona costs, with a published day-delegate rate, the April 2026 tourist tax, official ticket prices and an evening at the Palau de la Música.

The brief this is written for

Forty people from three European offices, a two-day team offsite with workshops, one team dinner and a Gaudí morning. Two nights near Plaça de Catalunya.

Barcelona is Europe's default offsite city for a reason that has nothing to do with the beach: it is two hours from most of the continent, the hotels around Plaça de Catalunya and Passeig de Gràcia quote a day-delegate rate that includes the room and lunch, and the evenings write themselves. Forty people can walk from the workshop to dinner to a concert without a coach.

The number to watch in 2026 is the tourist tax. From 1 April 2026 a guest in a five-star hotel in the city pays €12 per night, made up of the Catalan regional tax and the city's own surcharge, and a four-star guest pays €8.40. That is charged per person, not per room, so on a twin-share offsite it doubles. The table below gives the published rate card, a hotel's published day-delegate price, and the official tickets for the itinerary.

A two-day itinerary

How the days run.

Meeting hours, transfers and evenings as a sourcing desk would lay them out. Named venues link to their own pages; times are typical, not booked.

Day 1: arrive and eat together

  1. Afternoon

Aerobús from El Prat to Plaça de Catalunya

The airport shuttle runs from both terminals to the square every few minutes, takes about thirty-five minutes, and for a group arriving on different flights is easier than a coach. The single fare is published.

  2. 16:00 to 18:30

    Kick-off workshop in the hotel

Book the half-day delegate package for the afternoon and the full-day package for tomorrow. Spanish hotels include the projector and screen; a second room for breakouts is a separate line.

  3. 20:30

Team dinner in the Born or Gràcia

A private room in a restaurant in El Born, or a long table in a Gràcia neighbourhood place, is the Barcelona offsite dinner. Menus for groups are quoted per person with wine; eating at nine is the local hour, and starting earlier costs nothing but feels odd.

Day 2: the full day, then a concert

  1. 09:00 to 17:00

    Full-day workshop, day-delegate rate

A published Barcelona full-day package covers the room, two coffee breaks, lunch, projector and screen. Fix the number of breakout rooms, the lunch format and the audio-visual in the brief and the quotes fall into line.

  2. 19:00

    Palau de la Música Catalana

The modernista concert hall a few minutes from the hotel offers a fifty-minute guided tour of the stained-glass auditorium, and on many evenings a concert after it. The tour price is published; concert tickets depend on the programme.

Day 3: Gaudí before the flights home

  1. 09:00

    Sagrada Família, guided group tour

The basilica sells a guided-tour ticket for groups at a published per-person price, with an option to add the towers. Book weeks ahead; the morning slots go first and the guided entry avoids the queue.

  2. Late morning

    Park Güell, then out

Twenty minutes uphill by coach, an hour in the park, and the coach continues to the airport. Entry is timed and sold online; the park publishes its tickets on its own site.

What the table leaves out, and why

  • Park Güell sells timed entry through its own booking system and does not show the price on the information page, so the table has no row for it.
  • Group dinner menus are quoted per restaurant and not published; expect a per-person menu with wine and fix the format in the brief if the hotel is to quote it.
  • The tourist tax is capped at seven nights per stay and charged per person, so a twin-share room pays it twice.

Questions

Budgeting a meeting in Barcelona

What buyers ask about the cost side of this city. The venue detail is on the destination page.

How much does the tourist tax add to a two-night offsite?
For forty people in a four-star hotel for two nights it is 40 × 2 × €8.40, about €672, and in a five-star hotel about €960. It is charged per person per night regardless of room sharing, so it belongs as a stated line in every quote rather than inside the room rate.
Are Barcelona hotels used to a day-delegate rate?
Yes. The central business hotels publish full-day and half-day packages that include the room, breaks, lunch and basic audio-visual, so the meeting part of the offsite is easy to compare. Breakout rooms and dinner are the extras to fix in the brief.
Which weeks should an offsite avoid?
The big trade fairs at Fira, above all the mobile technology congress in late February or early March, when rates across the city can double and hotels impose minimum stays. Late spring and October are the comfortable months; August is quiet in the offices you are visiting and hot in the workshop room.
